August News from The Cupboard
I haven't emailed the newsletter in a while so this may be a little long but it is chock full of great stuff so don't give up. Please read all the way to the end.
And Don't Forget About our Summer Fun Sale! It is still going on throughout the month of August. This week it is Civil War Fabric! A 20% savings (half yard minimum)
Here we are in August already. Some kids are back in school as I write this. My granddaughters out in Fontana have started. In some areas, the kids go back to school after Labor Day. It was that way for my kids and when August rolled around, they were bored and ready for a change. Most of the summer camps were in July, so that distraction was gone. At one time we lived in Northern California, in Chico, and we seemed to have the only pool in their group of friends so all the kids ended up at our house. My kids were tired of swimming; No really, they were but all their friends kept wanting to hang out at our house. Not that I minded cause they were all great kids. Those days are over for me cause my son and daughter are both grown and have kids of their own. (well sort of over as we do have a pool and the grandkids love to swim. Even the littlest ones are becoming little fishes with their life jackets. It has been fun.
We also just got back from 4 glorious days in the Napa Valley the end of July. We had such a great time, even did the Napa Valley Wine Train, lunch and wine on a train traveling leisurely through the wine country. www.winetrain.com What could be better? Weather was pretty hot but the wineries were nice and cool. Before we flew home we visited the Jelly Belly Factory, YUMMY! and the SS. Hornet (the aircraft carrier that picked up the Appollo astronauts who landed on the moon in July of 1969). A great get away but now it is back to business (Darn)
Don't forget about our great August Classes (There is still room in both classes):
Long May It Wave - Thursday, August 7th, 10 AM - 4 PM $35, includes pattern.
Folded Corners, Fri August 8th, 10 AM - 4 PM $35 + pattern. Create a block that can be transformed into a 3D quilt. This project will allow you to use your imagination and create your own layout. Folded Fabric will give added dimension to your quilt and added movement.
Block of the Month: Both the Batik and Civil War blocks are ready for pick up. Don't miss out or fall behind!
And speaking of Block of the Month, we have a wonderful new Civil War BOM, starting in January, 2015 (never too early to plan ahead!). It will be $25/month, which will include the pattern and the fabric for each month's blocks.
Here's an idea of what the fabrics look like, they are just beautiful!
It has been like Christmas around here lately with all the fabric deliveries. We have gotten some more really cute Halloween fabric -
Boppity Boo from Red Rooster
Witchful Thinking from Clothworks
We have also gotten in some new baby flannel from Marcus Brothers
e have also received a couple more lines with Kitties, as purr Annie's request! "Persnickity" from Red Rooster and "It's a Cat's Life" from Quilting Treasures. Shhh, don't tell Annie, but we also got "It's a Dogs Life" from Quilting Treasures as well.
A new product that we just received are Batik scarves, for that fashion statement or the cool weather that inevitably follows the hot weather here or elsewhere if you are traveling! And the best part - you don't have to make them. Just buy one and wear it!
Have you seen the new Fabi? It is the latest die cutting machine from Sizzix! There are so many more dies now, it will even cut squares and triangles for you with just a twist of the handle. It will cut those rag quilt squares complete with the fringe already cut! Just think of all the pain and agony you can avoid from cutting! The new dies also come with project ideas, we have some on display in the shop. Need applique shapes cut? Or maybe the grandmother's flower garden hexagons? Well come into the world of Fabi easiness! Look for a workshop soon!
I guess this is long enough. Please come in and see all the other new stuff!
