May News From The Cupboard
Now that it is well into Spring, all the flowers are starting to bloom! They are really beautiful!
Speaking of Spring - I was a Spring Bride and my husband, Larry, and I will be celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary tomorrow, May 1st!

This is a Butterfly Bush in my back yard! It is also known as "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" cause the flowers go from "Dark Purple, to Lavender to White". I just love seeing the color. All my roses are bursting with color in the front yard as well.
We had a great week-end last week-end. My husband belongs to the University of Illinois Alumni Club and they try to do a get together monthly so in April we all met at McKenna's On The Bay (Yummy and a beautiful view of the Marina) in Long Beach for dinner and then we went to see "A Chorus Line" at the Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center located behind Cal State Long Beach. They followed the original musical, no intermissions. It was a wonderful show!
SPECIAL FOR MOTHER'S DAY! We have a beautiful basket full of about $250.00 worth of goodies. To enter to win, when you spend $30.00 (not including Block of the Month) before tax, you get one entry into our drawing. One ticket for each $30 you spend! Contest starts Wed, May 1st and the drawing will be held Sat, May 11th around 1 PM. What a great Mother's Day present!

New "Quilt Sampler" for Spring. Congrats to Monica's Quilt & Bead Creations as one of the featured shops!
We have been getting some wonderful new collections in the shop. From Red Rooster, we have just received an Asian line called "Gion"

We have some wonderful new "Rolie Polie's" from Riley Blake. They are similar to Moda's Jr Jelly Rolls, only 21 strips. We also have some of their little charm packs, like their rolls, only 21 charms in each pack but some terrific fun fabrics! There are still some Jelly Rolls from Moda - Kissing Booth, Marmalade, and Sakura Park. All wonderful. Come see how we've used them in our patterns.
We do have the Mckenna Ryan's "Wind in the Whiskers" fabric as well as complete sets of the patterns.

South Sea Imports has a wonderful 'beachy' themed fabric, quite appropriate for Southern California, called "Seaside Village".

A couple of new patterns are fun, one is the Chicken place mats and the other is the Lottie Dot Bag! There are other great patterns available as well.

A couple of new books are also noteworthy to mention here. One is a Civil War book called "The Blue and the Gray". The authors of the best selling "Country Threads Goes to Charm School" present a remarkable collection of projects inspired by the Civil War.

Eleanor Burns has a new book, hot off the press, that is really wonderful. It is called "Quilts from El's Kitchen" and not only does it have quilt patterns but also some yummy recipes. This is one of those books that you just want to have because it is so much fun to look through.
We also are adding to our 108" wide backs collection, just received some new ones. Sure makes doing those backs a lot easier if it is just one piece.
NEWS FLASH: We will be starting a new Block of the Month, just in time for the holidays. It is called "Christmas Peace" and is presented by Windham Fabrics. Beautiful fabrics and it isn't very large, only 65" square. Sign ups are being taken now and we will start in July.

Well I guess that is all for now. In May we will start to get our Halloween and Christmas fabrics so make sure you visit us often to see what new things have come in.
Remember, everyday is a wonderful day for quilting!
