Sept News from The Cupboard
We just finished another month this year. Time just seems to fly when you are having fun. Right? We are continuing to build our inventory; in fact, I now have an Instagram page - The Quilt Cupboard. Whenever we get new stuff, I try to post a picture to Instagram. That way you can keep up on all the new stuff we are getting. There is also a Twitter page going for us as well. Haven't had a chance to tweet anything yet but will be doing that real soon. So check out both of those social media sites for the latest info. I am hoping to have a blog going soon.
Thankfully the weather will be cooling down a bit although when school starts, it always seems to get hot. I taught 6th grade for about 8 years and it seemed like every year it got hot right after Labor Day for a few weeks. Ah, the smell of sweaty 6th grade boys from recess. Can't say as I miss that!
This year is a special year cause my grandson, Chase, starts kindergarten. He is so excited. He goes to preschool now and loves that. I will be the proud Grandma taking pictures of his first day tomorrow, Sept 1st. I will post to Instagram.
We will be Open on Monday, Sept 7th - Labor Day. There will be some surprise discounts hourly, starting at 10 AM. We will be closing earlier; however, at 4 PM.
Did you know that we now carry both felted and unfelted wool? We are also busy ordering some more wool patterns. We hope to have our wool Club going again soon.
NEW - our New "Frivol-us" Club is starting up on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. (Sept 8th) These are great little kits from Moda. Frivol #1, uses the "Hello, Darling" line from Bonnie and Camille, and includes the quilt pattern called "Kindred", from the first of Moda's exclusive Frivol Quilt Patterns. Great Little quilt (actually not too little as it measures 42" X 42".) The kit contains 42 - 7 X 7" squares from the line (we also have charms and some bolts from this line) and it all comes in a decorator box that can hold a lot of sewing "stuff" The pattern is included in the box as well as a bonus "Frivol" or two. The cost is $46.95 + background fabric for the kit (1 1/2 yds - No additional cost for the Club). Of course, the cute little kits can be purchased separately. You don't have to join the Club to take advantage of this great program! But wouldn't it be great fun to be "Frivol-us" with us? Come on, you know you want to. Space is limited so hurry!
Some Snowmen have just arrived from Clothworks. It is called "Creatures Comforts" and is really cute. Check out Instagram for pictures of the line. It is really cute! There is even a flannel piece with snowflakes on a dark blue background to make that snowman quilt soft and cuddily.
Did you know that we have some Open Sewing Slots available on Thurs, Fri, or Sat if there aren't any classes scheduled. Just check the schedule online on our website. The cost is $5 unless you make a purchase.

There are a couple of Quilt Shows coming up this month as well and we will have a booth at both. The first one is the San Diego Show at the San Diego Convention Center. I know that this show had been faltering in the past but there is a whole new group of ladies and they are determined to bring that show back up to the standard that it was. We will have a booth there and I am looking forward to having a great show. And a short vacation as well! It starts with a Preview Night on Wed, Sept 9th from 6 - 9 PM. Then the show is being held Thursday and Friday, Sept 10th and 11th from 10 AM - 5 PM, and Sat, Sept 12th from 10 AM - 4 PM. It will be in Hall A in the Convention Center.
The other show is the Flying Geese Quilt Show at Soka University in their Gymnasium on Sat and Sun, Sept 26th and 27th. The show hours are Sat, 10 AM - 4 PM and Sun, 10 AM - 3:30 PM. We will also have a booth at that show. I will be joined by Steve with his Elna's, and Necchi's (Made by Jenome) and Featherweights.
So come on down, see some wonderful quilts and visit our booths!
Hope your summer was great, whatever you did or wherever you traveled. How many rows did you collect? Wasn't that fun? Can't wait to find out the theme for next year.
"Every day is a great day to quilt, and if it isn't, it ought to be!
